My Intro

So, who is Wilfred van der Deijl?

I am currently employed by Eurotransplant. I’ve put together a page about me and my line of work.

I’ve started this blog to share my experiences in my job with my peers. I’m the system architect for Eurotransplant. We have an IT department of about 25 people, building custom software for three foundations involved with organ and tissue transplantations in Europe.

There’s a lot going on: Upgrading from client/server Forms/Reports to webbased version 10g, upgrading database 8iR3 to 10g, upgrading Designer 6.0 to 10g, implementing JDeveloper/JHeadstart, building an offline Java Swing application, setting up Oracle Application Server with Single Sign On.

With so much going on, we’re bound to run into problems. Once we’ve found the problems, we’ll (hopefully) come up with solutions as well. Wouldn’t it be nice if I could share this information with other Oracle professionals? That’s just what I intend to do with this blog.

More to come…
